INTRODUCTION.
Hello.I'm Denise Stow-Williamson descended from John Stow, born 07/06/1766 inNew Hall, Sutton, Kildwick, Yorkshire and Ellen or Eleanor Emmott of Kildwick, Yorkshire, England. They were married 25/04/1786 in Kildwick.I'm hoping that other descendents can get in touch so that we can share our ancestor search and decide which is documented fact and which is speculation or myth.
I'm hoping to hear from someone soon. Has anyone any information about who was Ellen or Eleanors parents? She was born around 1768.

I've been puzzling over Ellen Emmott's parents for years without getting anywhere, though I've recently found an interesting line of enquiry. When she and John Stow married, both witnesses were called John Crosley. One was the parish clerk, but was the other one related? In 1782 there was a marriage between John Crosley and Mary Emmott - and the John Crossley signatures are similar. So were Ellen and Mary sisters?
I've found Mary's death in 1836 and a record of her will in the Death Duty Registers, but unfortunately it doesn't seem to help. However, it may be that finding more about Mary will lead to something on Ellen.
